Scuba Certification
Pre-requisites
- Minimum age for private lessons: 10 years old
- Minimum age for group lessons: 12 years old
Medical Clearance
In order to participate, you will need a clean bill of health or a physician's approval to dive. This form will be sent to you following registration and needs to be completed prior to your first session, including physician approval, if applicable. If you do not receive medical clearance from your physician for whatever reason, then we will issue a full refund for the course.

To complete your scuba certification, both components (Classroom/Pool & Certification Dives) must be completed.
Part 1: Open Water Diver - Classroom/Pool
Includes:
- Digital training materials for Open Water Diver
- Pool and classroom training
- Rental gear during training
- $100 credit towards your personal gear if purchased at Diventures
Does Not Include:
- Required personal gear (required pieces: mask, snorkel, boots and fins, surface marker buoy, and reel)
- Open water certification dives (required for full certification)

Schedule Your New Student Orientation
The New Student Orientation should ideally be conducted at least a week out from your first class session. Typically it takes about an hour to an hour and a half to complete, as we'd like to ensure that you have ample time to get your questions answered and feel comfortable and confident prior to the first session.
Within the new student orientation, we will:
- Help setup your SSI app
- Ensure you have access to all digital materials and understand what needs to be completed
- Complete any outstanding paperwork and review the medical form
- Review the required personal gear items and conduct a personal gear fitting for the items you need
- Explain how to setup your personal gear so that it's 'pool ready' for the first session
- Address any questions or concerns you have

Part 2: Certification Dives
Four certification dives are required to complete your certification, and should be done within six months of finishing your pool and classroom portion.
Includes:
- 4 open water certification dives
- Digital certification card
- Rental gear for two days of certification dives
Does Not Include:
- Price of trip or entrance fees, where applicable
- Physical certification card
These certification dives can be completed through three methods:
- Certification Vacation
Certification Vacations are short trips exclusively for our students who are looking to complete their Open Water Certification Dives. An easy flight from the U.S., Certification Vacations offer students the chance to complete their certification in clear, warm ocean waters with an experienced Diventures instructor. No more waiting until the weather is just right or diving through murky lake waters. These vacations allow you to dive any time of the year!
There are six spots available on each Certification Vacation trip. This ratio allows for each student to get individualized attention from their instructor. For most students, this will be their first-time swimming in the ocean. Knowing you are doing it under the watchful eye of an expert makes for a confidence-building experience.

- Locally
Many of our stores have local diving opportunities for you to complete your training! These are typically available seasonally, weather permitting, and are a great option to complete your training economically and close to home.

- Referral
We complete your paperwork for an upcoming trip you already have planned. Because you haven't completed your full certification yet, you will need to partner with a store that teaches under the same training agency (SSI) in order to receive credit for the portion you've already completed.
